The Construction of the Curtis Schmidt Observatory

The following photographs show the construction of the Curtis Schmidt Observatory (between 1948 and 1950). This building housed the 36” Schmidt reflecting telescope and was part of the Portage Lake Observatory (located near Dexter Michigan).
